Effective Medicines Governance in Australian Hospitals

Description

Effective medicines governance is fundamental to safe, equitable and high‑quality healthcare.

This Internal Medicine Journal position paper sets out contemporary guiding principles for the roles and responsibilities of Medicines and Therapeutics Committees (MTCs) in Australian hospitals. Developed in response to increasing therapeutic complexity and system pressures, the guidance supports MTCs to provide consistent, transparent and evidence‑based leadership in medicines management, while promoting alignment, accountability and best practice across jurisdictions.
