MAIA Antidepressant withdrawal: understanding and supporting people across the continuum of care

Description

As part of the MAIA consortium, CATAG has developed the MAIA Antidepressant withdrawal: understanding and supporting people across the continuum of care practice tool. This practice tool will assist Medicines and Therapeutics Committees to raise awareness about:

  • neuro-physiological changes associated with antidepressant use
  • antidepressant withdrawal symptoms and how to differentiate from depression relapse
  • effective tapering strategies to minimise withdrawal symptoms
  • the importance of effective communication for mental health conditions and
psychotropic medications at transitions of care, especially at admission and discharge.
